Day 160 - Peony

Watercolor. Photography by my sister.
My sister loves peonies. Most have a wonderful, intoxicating fragrance, hence the number of peony scents on the market (Perlier is THE BEST!). The peony is named after Paeon (also spelled Paean), a student of Asclepius, the Greek god of medicine and healing. Asclepius became jealous of his pupil but Zeus saved Paeon from the wrath of Asclepius by turning him into the peony flower. Next time you see a Peony be kind but remember to stop and smell the flower.
